CHARACTER NAME: Wanda Maximoff

CANON: MCU

CANON POINT: Post-WandaVision

AGE: 28

BACKGROUND

HISTORY: wiki

PERSONALITY:
  • How does your character handle stress? What do they do in an emergency?
  • Wanda's abilities do allow for her to have a lot of control as she is in her current state. This however has taken years of working and discovering different parts and facets of what she can do. It has not always been the case since essentially HYDRA performed human experimentation on her and her brother, and then just decided she was ready. She has had some training with the Avengers, but there are times she loses control like what happened at Lagos when she tried to contain an explosion and only ended up sending it into a building that killed a bunch of Wakandans. She took this extremely personal even when Steve Rogers tried to take the blame since he let the explosion happen.

For her the biggest thing is to be able to have someone around her to ground her. If she has that, she can work with whatever emergencies come up. She is an Avenger after all. There happens to be a lot of those. She's loyal and wants to protect the people closest to her, like doing everything she could before having to destroy the Mind Stone, killing her lover Vision. Not having that guiding person in her life and the crushing blow of grief that seems persistent in her life is what causes her to lose control a second time, mind controlling an entire town to keep the illusion of a happy family together.

Wanda is an exceptionally strong person, but she has more stress and grief in her life than most people which causes cracks to form.

  • What are some of your character's regrets? How is your character impacted by them?
  • Wanda has a lot of regrets. Anything where a person ended up getting hurt because of her. She isn't someone that seeks out power for herself just to have it even if it might be personally motivated. She regrets what happened at Westview, what happened with Vision, but she absolutely does not regret having her sons through it. She's become a mother through it, becoming even more fierce, more devoted to her family which has always been incredibly important to her, losing her parents young and being a twin.

Lagos is another regret. It spearheaded the Sokovian Accords, which was created because of the destruction of Sokovia when Ultron tried to destroy the world, and part of that she does feel blame for as well since Ultron had initially recruited her and her brother only to want to end humanity. Wanda knew people feared her after Logos, but she had to come to terms with what she was capable of changing. She knew what she felt was right, and that was why she joined Steve to help Bucky figure out who was after him. That solidified her relationship with Clint once again, needing him to guide her (this time literally as well as he helps her out of the compound when she doesn't sign the Accords which she didn't do because it would limit her abilities to what others could tell her, something she already lived with by being experimented on by HYDRA). This cemented her side in the Civil War which also left her without a home for two years since she could no longer return to the States. Her one action led to a series of events.

Wanda initially was seen as a villain, both for working with HYDRA and then Ultron. Steve Rogers put it best about why the twins would work with HYDRA when he sarcastically asks who would let a German scientist experiment on them to protect their country. In her early years the death of her parents at the hands of Tony Stark fueled a lot of motivations, but they drastically switch as we see her become an Avenger. Despite not wanting to hurt people, she was doing what she could to try make things better for Sokovia, a country war torn and plagued by other county's hunger for power or capitolistic endeavors. Her focus switches to Ultron when she realizes it's Tony Stark whose fears she manipulated, and she could be a part of his undoing, the Avengers undoing. With Tony at the forefront it's more about retaliation. However Ultron's goal isn't just to wipe out the Avengers, but all of humanity since he views them as what is wrong with the world. When she realizes the mistake she's made, it does frighten her, but once again with Clint's help, she makes the decision to help, to do something for good. Both her and Pietro are Avengers at that point.

  • What are your character’s ambitions/goals? Why are they important to your character?
  • At this canon point the only thing Wanda has left is the knowledge that she's a witch and that she has someone created two sons with Vision, and if they existed even in the reality she created, they exist somewhere. This becomes her sole ambition. She is a mother first, and she thinks her children are out there. She becomes focused on the Darkhold, a powerful book of magic, to learn more about her powers, to hone them, and to be able to use them and the book to find her children.

Again with no one around to tell her that being so focused on something she might not have the most control over, she ends up making some bad decisions, letting the Scarlet Witch take over. She is from before this canon point though, teetering on what to do next. It becomes her focus because she has lost everything else. Her parents died tragically when she was 10. Her twin brother died fighting Ultron to save Clint, and then she had to kill the man she loved, and it did not even matter, because Thanos used the Infinity Stones to reverse time and take the stone from him anyway. So when she was able to create this family, it became everything to her, something to fight for and protect.

She would do anything for it.

INVENTORY: The clothes on her back and in her pocket, the deed to the house that Vision bought in Westview, NJ.
POWERS

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

-flight
-telepathy/mind control (will create an opt out and will only use this with prior permission from other players)
-telekinesis
-illusions
-conjuring/creating matter out of nothing
-energy creation/ absorption
-force field creation
-spell casting (relatively new and inexperienced)
-reality warping/control (for the purposes of not being able to break the game the only thing she can really do is change reality on a small scale-- anything to do with creating big scale reality bending/breaking will not work)

NERFING: For things like flight, telepathy, mind control, telekenesis, energy creation/absorption, and force field creation, it would just be on a smaller scale, causing her to exhaust herself a lot easier. She would only be able to use her ability in shorter bursts before becoming too tapped out, like the energy and magic is spent out of her. Given how strong she is in canon, she could use her powers for a half hour or so before she would have to stop and rest for a time period.
Anything with her magic is fairly new as it is, so again it would take a lot, and she's inexperienced with it (so with lack of power backing her, she would not be capable of spells on the same level).
Anything to do with illusions and reality warping would be nerfed down as to not break the game. Anything to do with another character would have opt out options and be discussed previously. The scale she could do this would just be creating things she might need in a survival situation, not creating anything bigger than a chair or unable to change anything about the game or the setting.

WEAKNESSES: Shock collars that are meant to control powers, drugs also meant to do the same thing
